The Worst Motorcycle Ad Ever

Posted by donnie1967  Published in WTF...?

shitty picture1884 Yamaha 750cc Motorcycle

“looks like west coast chopper…15000 miles on it…very clean,, many parts are chrome..has exaust pipe like HARLEY…very well keep..really good condition..
askin for 2,200 or OBO…or trade for a small workin car or small pick-up”

I actually picked the best photograph of the 4 that accompanied this ad for a 1884 Yamaha. Yep, an 1884 is what it’s entitled. That’s not a typo on my part. That’s how serious this dude is about sellin’ his POS. He takes sideways cell phone camera pics of his bike and mis-titles it an 1884.

Here’s my favorite of the four pictures. Instead of twisting your head and neck, here’s a better idea: turn your monitor on its side.

Rat Bike for Sale… This is a treasure

Posted by donnie1967  Published in WTF...?

Every once in a while, a wonderful specimen of a motorcycle comes along for sale on craigslist. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you a vision of exquisite beauty. Behold: The Rat Bike of the Week:

rat bike for sale seattle tacoma washington craigslist

“This bike started life as a 1984 Honda VT700. It has under 14,000 original miles, and runs well. It now has mailbox saddlebags, a harley rear fender, a sportbike fuel tank, Royal Ensfield tail light, and an old russian truck’s headlight, direct from Iraq! This unique bike gets around 50 MPG, and is quite spritely on the road. I need the garage space, as I have too many bikes as it is. $1,500.”

Slight burn damage; is this a CarFax commercial?

Posted by donnie1967  Published in WTF...?

This is just too funny. I’m glad the rider escaped injury, but… just enjoy the ad as it is, and I’ll shut up:

ouch my thighs are burning, what gives?Kawasaki Vulcan , slightly burned $600

“1992 Kawasaki Vulcan 750. I’m positive the motor and trans etc are good, I was riding it when it caught on fire. Only plastic and rubber got burned. Put the fire out fast. Bike used to do 120, plenty of power. My loss your gain. Will be trading 4 a boat on Saturday, so better call me 2day.”

…if I was the victim of a vehicular fire while in motion, I’d get a new hobby too. One where I’m surrounded by fucking water.

Pocket Bike Grand Prix Racing

Posted by donnie1967  Published in WTF...?

pocketbike gp

I really must be a heartless bastard. I myself am sans motorcycle currently, but I don’t think I’ll be taken to task when I say pocketbikes aren’t real motorcycles but toys. They’re recreation and that’s cool. I bet little kids love zipping around on these things.

But when grown men get on these things, is this not the stupidest, saddest…

Please, investigate and make up your own mind on this pocket bike phenomenon. If you choose to flame me, remember, I control what comments show up and what don’t. Don’t spend too much time crafting that perfect Fuck You comment to me.

You might be wasting pocket bike racing time.

Look what your $750 buys you in Puyallup…WTF?

Posted by donnie1967  Published in WTF...?

If you can guess what bike this is before clicking the ad, you’re more of a motorcycle guru than I am. Well, that’s not a big achievement, I admit. Craigslist Seattle has a few doozies that go in my WTF category today, this one is the funniest though.

“Bike has all the plastic and everything to put together motor ran fine when parked about 5 years ago my friend thought it had a leaky tank but it was just a gasket so she parked it and never got around to fixing it needs new battery, has no title but can get one from her or release of interest.”

…Not only is it a heap of mess, there’s no title to go along with it. What a deal, what a deal. The poster even misspelled the name of the bike in the ad’s title. Guess I can’t blame them - there’s no evidence or markings of just what the hell it is on the cycle itself.

Overpriced, Old, Small… and Restorable!

Posted by donnie1967  Published in WTF...?

Judging by the title, it sounds like I’m talking about myself. No, this WTF entry comes from the quiet, all-white Snohomish county suburb of Mukilteo. For Your Consideration: A 1972 Montesa 250 Enduro:

1972 montesa enduro for sale... no thank you“Street Legal Motorcycle. Good condition. Restorable. Original manual and service records are available. or best offer. $2,000.”…

Yes, two grand for a 36 year old, 250cc single, 2 stroke bike that probably needs premixing. The Montesa is a Spanish brand. If you absolutely must have a motorcycle no one has heard about, this may be for you. Getting parts for a 1972 Honda ain’t easy. Getting parts to restore this - well, you better know how to fabricate and cast your own parts. Smelting metal to fabricate parts is a heck of a way to spend one’s weekend. …UPDATE** The owner cut the price in half. So, the first grand was what, hope money? What’s it really worth?
